All Instruments
After getting an instrument the first two accessories a musician needs are a tuner, and a metronome are two of the most important accessories every musician should have. A tuner gives you a reference of where your instrument should be set to play in tune. A metronome helps you keep a steady tempo when you are playing at home. The most important thing to make sure you get is a "chromatic" tuner. Do not get one specific to an instrument - (i.e. do not get a "guitar" tuner) This is not a comprehensive list, so feel free to ask if you find something different you like.

Flute
Flute players should have some type of swab or cleaning cloth. All cleaning kits sold online should have one.
Clarinet/Saxophone
Clarinet and saxophone players should have at least 3 different reeds that they are rotating between. This will extend the life of the reeds, will help break them in, and will also avoid students having to use a new reed in case of an emergency. Clarinets and saxophones should also have cleaning swabs to clean their instruments out. Teeth savers may also be purchased. Teeth savers are just a pad that sticks to the top of a mouthpiece to cushion your teeth from vibrations. If students would like a new mouthpiece of ligature please have them talk to me. I may recommend different equipment depending on the student.
Trumpet/Baritone/Tuba
Trumpet, baritone, and tuba players should have some type of valve oil. I recommend Blue Juice or Al Cass. If students are would like a new mouthpiece have them talk to me. I may recommend different equipment depending on the student.
Trombone
Trombone players will need slide oil. There are many different options but I have had the best results with Yamaha Slide Oil. If students are would like a new mouthpiece have them talk to me. I may recommend different equipment depending on the student.
